Winona Ryder's character, Lelaina, sticks up for herself after being taken advantage of by her roommate, Vickie. This scene shows how Lelaina is learning how to stand up for herself after being disrespected and used several times.  Lelaina confronts Troy because of his living conditions and work ethic, as a form of projecting her hidden feeling for him. Vickie states that it is too psychotic in the apartment right after the confrontation, declaring that Lelaina is intimidating everyone in the room.  Lelaina and Troy live together and share a romantic relationship. The message is that no matter how hard they tried to hide their feelings, they opened up and have a good outcome regardless of other people's judgement. |
